An indoor skydiving facility in the stadium belonging to the second First Division football club of Barcelona, the RCD Espanyol, nears completion. Almost five years after the project was first announced, the WINDOOR wind tunnel integrated into one corner of the 40,000-capacity stadium is about to open its doors to the public.
After the one that was inaugurated in Empuriabrava back in 2012, it is the second WINDOOR tunnel in Catalonia, Spain's northeastern region. Located in Cornellà-El Prat, on the outskirts of Barcelona and well connected in relation to the metropolitan area overall, with its total population of 4.5 million, it has the distinction to be the first one built into a football stadium.
The finishing touches are currently being applied. The inauguration is scheduled for November.
