Officially Amazing

The wind tunnel and one of the climbing walls at CLYMB in Abu Dhabi, UAE, are certified as world record holders per GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ standards. The tunnel's flight chamber is in a league of its own with a staggering volume of 4195.75 m3.

Broken down into diameter and height, the tunnel measures 10 meters (32 ft) by 54.6 meters (179.2 ft), truly pharaonic dimensions by comparisons with other tunnels around the world. CLYMB Abu Dhabi opened on 29 November and applied for the Guinness certification on 11 December 2019.

A laconic statement at the bottom of the Guinness certificate reads: "The 54-meter tall tunnel will revolutionize indoor skydiving." That this holds true was ably demonstrated by Kyra Poh, SIN, and Maja Kuczyńska, POL, and captured on film by Lauri Aapro, FIN.

Bianca Sammut is the Acting Head of Yas Theme Parks, where CLYMB is located in Abu Dhabi. She comments on the certification: "We are delighted that our adrenaline-fuelled attractions have been awarded two GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ titles. As the title holders of the world's largest indoor skydiving wind tunnel and world's tallest indoor artificial climbing wall, we are able to provide customers with two unique, record-breaking experiences, unlike any they have witnessed before. This recognition consolidates our position as a global attraction and we look forward to allowing our visitors to reach new heights."

Due to the fight against the spread of SARS-CoV-2, CLYMB is currently operating at a limited capacity of 30% and insisting on online reservations to be made in advance. Thermal screening cameras and safe distance markers are used throughout the facility.
